Sometimes a label will be included, but it is a consistent pattern, and so is reasonably safe to assume users will have some familiarity with how it works. The back button is styled in a way that is common for iOS apps. What does each of these buttons do? It’s hard to say without labels or another signifier to support the icons. Though these icons are relatively universal, the lack of secondary signifiers makes the page’s functions a little more challenging to determine than they would be otherwise. Other than the page’s title - “Today” - there isn’t a label to be seen. Assuming a user hasn’t created any tasks that are due today, there is an empty-state with a playful illustration. At the bottom, there is a small help icon on the left and a large Floating Action Button on the right. At the top of the screen, there is a back icon, a magnifying glass icon, and an ellipses icon. On launch, the user is greeted by the “Today” page (pictured below), where they can see any of their tasks that are scheduled to be completed today. The product makes excellent use of the affordances provided by each device it’s built for. As a result, Todoist works as seamlessly offline as it does online, syncing across devices when it can connect again.īeyond connectivity, Todoist is also integrated with virtual assistants like Siri, taking advantage of another affordance offered by many mobile devices - voice interactions for the most common tasks. The mobile apps enable users to add, edit, check off, and remove items (among other actions) without internet access by taking advantage of the phone’s ability to cache data locally. Todoist’s availability on the web and as an app for mobile devices means it is accessible to the user, wherever they are, provided the user is connected to the internet at a desktop or laptop or has a mobile device with the app installed. Todoist’s mobile app for iOS will be the primary focus for this review, though I will briefly touch on the web-app to discuss some desktop-only features and issues. However, it also provides a variety of intelligent features and integrations with other products for automating everyday tasks, working within a team, and managing more complicated projects. At its core, the app supports creating and checking off to-do items. Todoist is an uncomplicated product for managing to-do lists - it is available on the web, iOS, and Android.
